Power Management and System Basis ICs

ST provides a large selection of Power Management ICs and System Basis Chips (SBC) specifically designed for automotive electronic systems.

In addition to infotainment systems, instrumentation clusters, and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), these highly versatile devices are tailored for USB hubs, seats, HVAC, roof, trunk, and door modules as well as various electronics control units (ECU) and gateways.

Key features:

  • Linear and switching voltage regulators
  • Physical LIN and CAN transceivers
  • High-side switches
  • Diagnostic and protection
  • Voltage monitors
  • Dedicated control bus (I2C or SPI)
  • Rail sequencing for safety applications
  • Fail-safe outputs
  • Wake-up inputs
  • All products AEC-Q100 qualified

To improve system integration, our power management ICs (e.g. SPSB081 or SPSB100) have  enhanced power management functionality, including various standby modes to minimize the power consumption with programmable local and remote wake-up capability, as well as LIN and CAN-FD physical communication layers.

Automotive PMIC devices are designed to reduce component count, optimize space, and integrate all the trend functions demanded by the market.

They guarantee full diagnostics, electrical protection, and redundancy (STPM801), high current capability (STPM098), buck/boost functionality (STPM802), sequencing, monitoring, low power consumption mode, and selectable and multiple voltages (STPM066S, SPSA068, L5965) to satisfy all application needs.

PMICs and SBCs devices provide a SPI interface that allows the control and diagnosis of the device, enables generic software development to be integrated on microcontroller unit.

The devices offer a set of features to support applications that need to fulfill functional safety requirements as defined by the automotive safety integrity level (ASIL).
