Discover the University of Catania Master of Power Electronics Devices
An extensive theoretical and practical program
The second-level master’s degree in power electronics devices and technologies is the most comprehensive partnership between the industrial and academic worlds to foster the innovations that will drive this market forward. It is led by a council of university professors and ST experts with decades of experience in this field.
The program includes 378 hours of lectures and labs, more than 820 hours of individual studies, and 300 hours of internship at ST, on top of tutorials, workshops, and other opportunities.
During the selection process, STMicroelectronics may offer scholarships or grants covering some or all of the tuition fees to certain students, ranked on evaluation criteria.
This is a one-year, full-time, on-campus Master of Engineering professional degree program.
The objective is to develop talents able to operate in high-tech industrial manufacturing processes.
The program covers a broad range of topics, including physics of semiconductors and wide bandgap materials to process technology, microelectronic circuits, power converters, design principles, electronic measurements, and reliability.
Each course is designed to provide comprehensive understanding. For example, in exploring manufacturing processes, students will delve into the techniques of etching and epitaxy, tracing the journey from raw substances to final products.
The purpose is thus to arm them with the knowledge and tools needed to answer the issues they will have to solve during their careers.
The program is open to a wide range of backgrounds, including early career professionals with a master’s degree (“Laurea Magistrale”, Master of science, 4-year or 5-year degree) in engineering disciplines, computer science, mathematics, physics, chemistry, received from an Italian or a non-Italian university. Final-year students who have not completed their degree can still apply, on the condition that they receive their degree within 90 days of the beginning of the program.
We are seeking highly motivated applicants with excellent English.
Sustainable technology is about being responsible and managing our impact throughout the product lifecycle. It is also about identifying and promoting innovative products that provide society with environmental and social benefits.
The transition to renewable energy sources must be implemented, together with the adoption of energy saving techniques. Power Electronics is considered the enabling technology for this transformation.
Candidates will be required to complete the online application by September 30th 2024 and upload required documents through the Application Portal.
