ST's Agrate site, the headquarters for Italy, employs over 5,000 people. It is one of our main front-end manufacturing facility, design and R&D center for MEMS and smart power technologies, including BCD. The site also conducts electrical wafer sort (EWS) activities. Alongside the long-running 200 mm fab, a state-of-the-art 300 mm fab began production in 2023.
MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical systems), developed in ST's Agrate site, leverage silicon’s unique properties to integrate mechanical structures able to sense acceleration, rotation, vibration and other physical and environmental properties. We manufacture our MEMS using proprietary micromachining processes that combine electrical circuits and 3D mechanical structures.
CulturAgile is a training initiative for employees in our fab. It consists of monthly webinars led by colleagues from various teams, covering a range of technical topics. It demonstrates our commitment to employee development, promoting continuous learning and lean practices. This initiative enhances skills and drives innovation within the organization.
Taking place on a quarterly basis, Agorà is a forum where all the employees working in our 300 mm fab meet in person to present their projects, share information, and exchange ideas in an informal style. It’s a perfect occasion to get to know each other and promote collaboration between teams, contributing to the continuous improvement of our operations.
When people contribute, perform and get results, we feel they should be rewarded.

Agrate and Catania, our two high-volume manufacturing sites in Italy, along with several R&D, design, and sales and marketing sites, will receive renewable electricity under a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) signed by ST in 2023. This agreement partners with ERG, a leading European independent producer of renewable energy, to supply our Italian locations.
We regularly organize events to highlight how ST technologies enable a more sustainable economy and our commitment to creating technology in a sustainable way. In 2023, we hosted the ‘ST Sustainability Days’ at our Agrate site, attracting over 1,000 stakeholders, including partners, customers, and students. The event featured product demonstrations, presentations, and panel discussions.
