ST25 dynamic NFC tags

Recognized for the quality of its NFC/RFID contactless interface, our ST25D series of Dynamic tags is available with wired connectivity (I²C or PWM) suitable for many consumer or industrial applications.

With up to 64 Kbits of EEPROM, these certified NFC Forum tags support short-range (ISO/IEC 14443) or long-range (ISO/IEC15693) contactless standards.

What is an ST25 Dynamic NFC tag?

ST25 Dynamic NFC tags are battery-less devices composed of a chip and an antenna. When powered by the magnetic field generated by an NFC/RFID reader (for example, a smartphone), it enables exchanges between the reader and the tag.

Additionally, our ST25 Dynamic NFC tags embed a contact interface, either a low-power I²C or PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) connection depending on the series. Usually wired to a microcontroller through the I²C interface, ST25DV-I2C tags enable contactless applications. ST25DV-PWM devices with PWM outputs are more suitable for industrial configuration applications.

Main applications

Available in several memory densities and with many key features, ST25 Dynamic NFC tags target a wide range of applications including industrial, metering, lighting, healthcare, consumer electronics, home appliance, electronic shelf labels, IoT objects, and more.

Useful information

WHAT IS TruST25 DIGITAL SIGNATURE? This in-house industrialization process ensures die authenticity provided by STMicroelectronics to help fight counterfeiting.
WHAT IS ENERGY HARVESTING? When an electromagnetic field is detected, the chip transforms the inducted energy into an electrical current to supply the tag IC and the MCU.
WHAT IS FAST TRANSFER MODE (FTM)? Using a dedicated 256-byte mailbox buffer, the FTM allows fast exchanges between RF and I2C domains, accessible from both.
WHAT IS GPO? A general-purpose output delivers configurable interrupt capabilities with multiple drive options.
WHAT IS PWM OUTPUT? Standing for Pulse Width Modulation, it generates variable duty cycles for system control. Commonly used in lightning and power-supply applications...
