Garden tools

Electrical garden tools come in a variety of shapes including hedge trimmers, leaf blowers and chainsaw either powered from the AC mains or by batteries in cordless equipment.  Whether for DIY enthusiasts or heavy-duty use by professionals and depending on the type of equipment and the required performance, garden tools can use a brushed DC, 3-phase BLDC or induction motor.

Challenges for developers

The electronics inside these tools need to provide high efficiency – especially in cordless designs – and a long lifetime as well as enable new functionalities including motion sensing and connectivity to enhance tool usability.

Our products and solutions

We have a wide range of motor control solutions to fit the types of motors and power ratings found in garden tools including power MOSFETs and intelligent power modules (IPM), MOSFET and IGBT gate drivers and monolithic motor drivers as well as a large selection of 32-bit STM32 microcontrollers and motion and ranging sensors.
