Vehicle-to-everything (V2X)

Vehicle-to-everything (V2X), referring to Vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I) communications, is a wireless technology aimed at enabling data exchanges between a vehicle and its surroundings. V2X technology is based on 5.9 GHz dedicated short-range communications, a Wi-Fi derivative specifically defined for fast-moving objects and enabling the establishment of a reliable radio link, even in non-line-of-sight conditions.

What V2X could bring

What V2X could bring

By sharing data, such as their position and speed, to surrounding vehicles and infrastructures, V2X communication systems improve driver awareness of upcoming potential dangers and dramatically improve collision avoidance, resulting in heavily reduced fatalities and injury severity. In addition, V2X technology will enhance traffic efficiency by providing warnings for upcoming traffic congestions, proposing alternative routes and ensuring eco-friendly driving, reducing CO2 emissions through adaptive cruise control and a smarter transportation management.
