The STM32WL series provides a portfolio of System-On-Chip solutions integrating both a low-power microcontroller and a long-range, energy-efficient sub-GHz radio on the same chip.
Built on Arm® Cortex®-Mx cores (single- and dual-core architectures available), the STM32WL series supports multiple modulations to ensure flexibility in wireless applications with LoRaWAN®, Sigfox, W-MBUS, mioty®, Wi-Sun, or any other suitable protocol in a fully open way.

About STM32WL series
The STM32WL series is based on ultra-low-power platforms, combining microcontroller low power modes with energy-efficient radio:
- STM32WL5 and STM32WLEx provide stop modes down to 1.07µA with RTC and full product retention. Their LoRa-enabled radio goes down to 4.82mA* in active RX and 15mA* in TX mode at 10dBm power output.
- STM32WL3 provides an Deep-stop mode down to 980nA with 32KB RAM retention. Its energy-efficient radio goes down to 4mA* in active RX and 8mA* in TX mode at 10dBm power output.

STM32WL3x microcontrollers support 2/4(G)FSK, (G)MSK, OOK, ASK, BPSK, and DSS modulations, fitting with standard communications such as Sigfox, W-MBUS, mioty®, Wi-Sun, and others proprietary protocols. An IQ Interface is available so developers can develop their own modulation for even more flexibility. STM32WL3x Hardware Radio Sequencer automates common radio operations such as frequency-hopping low-duty-cycle operations, LBT, RX Sniff, auto-ack and many more saving MCU intervention and boosting radio efficiency.
- STM32WL55 and STM32WLE5 microcontrollers integrate a LoRa®-enabled radio complying with the physical layer requirements of the LoRaWAN® specification released by the LoRa Alliance®.

STM32WLxM are certified System-in-Package modules integrating in a tiny footprint:
STM32WL5M is compliant with RF regulations: FCC, CE, IC, ARIB. It is certified for connection to LoRaWAN and SigFox network: LoRaWAN Certified™ and Sigfox verified™.
The STM32WL3x (M0+ single-core), STM32WLEx (M4 single-core), and STM32WL5x (M4 and M0+ dual-core) lines include a wide variety of communication features, including up to 43 GPIOs, an integrated SMPS for power consumption optimization, and multiple low-power modes to maximize battery life. A dual-power output and multiple frequency range to ensure worldwide compatibility. To fit with metering market the STM32WL3x integrates an LCD segment driver, and a LC Sensor controller for fluid sensing measurement in metering application.
In addition to their wireless and ultra-low-power features, the STM32WL series includes embedded security hardware functions such as AES hardware encryption and read/write protection.
Additionally, the STM32WLEx provides a public-key accelerator with an elliptic curve cryptographic engine, and the dual-core STM32WL5x line also includes advanced security features such as Secure Key Management Services (SKMS), secure areas hardware isolation, secure boot, and secure firmware update.

User friendly radio performance evaluation with STM32WL RF toolset:Radio monitoring and configuration tools are available for RF evaluation, test, and performance validation.
Reduce PCB footprint and achieve the best RF performance with ST IPD:A portfolio of companion integrated passive devices (IPDs) integrates in a tiny footprint the RF fine-tuned BoM, such as harmonic filters, impedance matching, and balun (WLE/5 only), available for each STM32WL SoC.
