Solution Description
This three-phase brushless motor driver represents a ready-to-use solution for cordless power tool applications supplied by 2S to 6S battery packs. It frees developers from complex design considerations involving size constraints, heat management, operational and standby efficiency, as well as the control and feedback mechanisms necessary for reliable, high performance operation.
The design is based on the highly integrated STSPIN32F0B System-In-Package capable of driving three-phase brushless motors in various modes. The device embeds an STM32 microcontroller with dedicated firmware ready to run field-oriented control, 6-step sensorless and other advanced driving algorithms, a triple half-bridge gate driver supplied by internal LDO internal regulator, a DC/DC buck converter (with external STPS0560Z Schottky rectifier) providing the 3.3 V voltage suitable to supply both the MCU and external components. The integrated operational amplifier ensures signal conditioning, while the comparator with programmable threshold delivers configurable overcurrent protection.
The power stage STL180N6F7 N-channel power MOSFET ensures very low switching losses, coupled with high current capability and low thermal resistance for highly efficient and reliable motor driving operation in a compact surface mount PowerFLAT 5x6 package.
