Expanding Bluetooth® LE capabilities using Coded PHY and Extended Advertisement

Expanding Bluetooth LE capabilities by using Coded Phy and Extended Advertisement

Learn to use Bluetooth® LE 5.0 Coded PHY for long-range applications and Advertising Extension for larger beacon payloads

Virtual hands-on workshop with live tech support
Residents of the Americas only

**Registration for all sessions is now closed**

Please join us for a free online workshop to learn how to expand Bluetooth LE capabilities with Coded PHY and Extended Advertisement using ST's new BlueNRG-LP Bluetooth Low Energy 5.2 certified System-on-Chip (SoC) and associated hardware evaluation platform and software development kit.

In today’s world Bluetooth-enabled IoT applications are becoming more and more demanding, not only in terms of the power consumption but also regarding range capabilities and the quantity of data being advertised – especially in beacon applications.

ST’s BlueNRG-LP is a Bluetooth LE 5.2 certified SoC that helps designers meet these demands not only with its ultra-low power consumption and best-in-class radio performance, but also by supporting Bluetooth 5.0 Coded PHY, which increases the range of a Bluetooth LE 5.0-enabled device up to 4x. And with the Advertisement Extension feature, the amount of data that a Bluetooth LE 5.0 device can advertise is increased by 8x.

This workshop is self-paced and can be accessed on-demand any time after the start of the selected session (see Session dates and times). Please note that live tech support via break-out rooms will be available only during the scheduled session hours.

Participation details

This workshop is open to Americas residents only.

Two STEVAL-IDB011V1 kits are required to participate in the workshop exercises. The STEVAL-IDB011V1 is an evaluation platform designed to help you develop and test Bluetooth low energy applications using the BlueNRG-LP SoC. Exclusively for attendees of this workshop, a limited number of the kits will be available on a buy one, get one free basis for a price of $67.38 USD (total for both components). You will receive purchase instructions by email soon after we receive your request to participate.

You will need to complete the purchase of these discounted kits in order to be confirmed for a workshop session.

What you will learn

This hands-on workshop will introduce you to Bluetooth LE 5.0 Coded PHY and Advertisement Extension features, including:

  • The theory behind Bluetooth LE's Coded PHY feature
  • How to configure and test Bluetooth LE's Coded PHY using the STEVAL-IDB011V1
  • The theory behind Bluetooth LE's Advertisement Extension feature
  • How to configure and test Bluetooth LE's Advertisement Extension using the STEVAL-IDB011V1

Prerequisites

This hands-on workshop is a working session and requires a computer running the 64-bit version of Windows® 10. Administrator rights are needed for software and driver installation. Two STEVAL-IDB011V1 kits are required for this workshop.
