Satellite platforms and payloads include mixed-signal boards integrating control functions, links between payloads and the on-board computer, and analog and RF interfaces ensuring a variety of functions such as thermal control and telemetry in addition to star trackers and altitude control functions in the case of the on-board computer. Control units are built using FPGAs, microprocessors (MPU) and application specific standard products (ASIC) and standard logic to implement simple features, while connectivity between different sub-systems is ensured with low-speed interfaces including CAN or legacy buses and LVDS (low-voltage differential signaling) for medium-speed communication. Each sub-system and board is supplied from the power bus provided by the power distribution units with local low-dropout (LDO) linear regulators or DC-DC converters.
